GET TO KNOW THE RIGHT COAST

Although not particularly on a certain coast, Pennsylvania's The Right Coast has quickly gained popularity from all sides of the country. Although the group is still in its infancy, each member of the band clearly strives to make likeable and addictive pop songs, imprinting them into the mind of critics, fans, and record producers.
Their EP This is Now was recorded and released without the help of a record label, via the do-it-yourself approach. However, the 4-song EP is anything but lo-fi static and noise; This is Now is bursting with the cheerful, toned-down vocals of Brandon Ehrgood. Moreover, the EP's title track features sing-along vocals that are perfect for the occasion when the musician and the fan can bond together, where vocals act as this medium that unite them together. "Every time I hear these kids singing along with the song, it shows me that I've gotten through to them- and for that I feel so lucky," explains Ehrgood. Listening to their EP, it's evident that the band makes every effort to create the best pop-oriented songs around. "['This is Now'] inspires me to push myself that much harder," says Ehrgood. With this in mind, the 5-piece group channels all of this motivating energy into songs that show off their appeal as a band. As a burgeoning band, they already have toured with national acts such as Meg & Dia, The Pink Spiders, and Valencia. In the coming weeks, The Right Coast will head off on a two-month tour, including several weeks showcasing This is Now in an acoustic setting by playing in Hot Topic stores. So, if anyone is in the eastern part of the U.S., be sure to check out this band- they're definitely heading in the 'right' direction. feature by Dilara Tuncer |
