How is it possible that a band that has 7 million plays on their Myspace page, the catchiest pop hooks to come out in a long time, and is about to embark on a tour on the East coast, still isn't signed to a record label? It's okay though, those record companies are missing out: big time.

What they fail to notice is Holiday Parade, an acoustic/rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, whose piano-laden songs are sure to make audiences smile at the fact that a band like this still exists in music today. Since 2006, Holiday Parade has released several full-length albums and EPs but their latest 2009 release, Tickets & Passports appears to have garnered them a fan base and an audience who can appreciate their light and ethereal way of making music. "Getaway," a track that introduces a prospective fan to their music, offers pop sensibilities, and it's a song that's perfect to listen to just in time for the summer season. Although the song was finished at a rather fast pace, it still flows together seamlessly, or, how the band puts it, "[Getaway] captures a moment and mood better than most."

For Holiday Parade, they have the ability to write lyrics that paint this delicate state of mind that whisks listeners away to a "personal Nirvana," according to the band. In addition, Holiday Parade knows how to draw attention to their best attributes, particularly Andy Albert's, whose singing style music circles should take note of.

In the end though, it's fantastic to see a group out there who knows what good music should sound like. If this band continues to do what they do, they shouldn't "Getaway" from anything- they should embrace the bright future that's in store for them.
